Interior Designer Spring is a season that reminds us that life carries on, that change is inevitable, and that no winter lasts forever. Here are some of my favorite transformations to highlight the power of design to breathe fresh life into spaces just waiting for a little magic.
Nest #1409
At Nest #1409, we infused an understated palette with a flash of sunshine through custom drapery in cheerful gold velvet. Our clients purchased this home without a walkthrough during the heart of the 2020 pandemic shutdown and our task was to create a warm and comforting oasis, ready for when they could move across country to move in. Our selections of art, lighting and custom furnishings define a space that is comfortable and stylish.
Nest #226
Fresh paint colors, new lighting, and thoughtful editing modernized the kitchen at Nest #226 while upholding the old-world charm of the cabinetry details. New countertops lightened and brightened the space, melding beautifully with the hand-made terracotta floor tile that we wanted to keep in place. This design is a testament to the fact that what we remove in design is as important as what we add.
Nest #210
The project that earned my place in Home & Design Magazine’s Hot Talent issue, Nest #210 continues to charm with its warm and relaxed elegance. This transformation marries influences from all over the globe, from crystal light fixtures evocative of European salons to art and artifacts from Asia and South America. I selected a vibrant yet creamy shade of orange to offset the ivory textiles on the furnishings and custom portières.
Nest #174
You’ve heard the idiom about too much of a good thing, but in the dining area at Nest #174, it was more a matter of too much of a so-so thing. Our client hated the overabundance of white surfaces and craved a change that would make the space more luxurious and exciting. Our wallpaper choice dramatically changed the mood in this space. New drapery panels, custom wall shelves, chair and stool fabrics, and a sexy red rug completed the stylish update.
Nest #142
The basement at Nest #142 was an unexplored part of this charming, older home when we were brought in to study its transformation. Our clients wanted to create a hangout where friends could put up their feet and enjoy sampling their whiskey collection. We leaned into the home’s mid-century aesthetic, elevating the look with dynamic lighting, new bar cabinetry and flooring, and a graphic wallpaper with coordinated paint in Ben Moore’s New Providence Navy.
