Our mission is to create functional residential and commercial spaces that make it easier for clients to be happy, comfortable, and inspired. We use color, texture, and pattern to define the personality of our rooms and the people who live and work within them. Each project is crafted thoughtfully to assure that balance, scale, and harmony are perfected through space planning and material selections.
By working with American furniture makers, using paperless presentations, and staying up to date with eco-friendly innovations in our field, we strive to put good stewardship of our earth at the center of our business practices.
Our Design Process
Both residential and commercial projects begin with discovery, followed by development, presentation, editing, and implementation. We gather detailed information on the project site and prepare a scope of work document for our client's review. Design challenges are met with solutions in the development phase. At presentation we provide tactile and visual aids as we discuss our proposed ideas, and after any edits, we manage the project through implementation.
Paul Miller believes that recognizing and solving design problems starts with good listening. His role as interior designer is to make the process fun and exciting for his clients while addressing their needs and challenges in a fresh and creative way. Paul is an expert at intelligent spatial plans and visual compositions. He uses pattern, texture, and color to make designs joyful and relaxing.
After completing the design program at Lord Fairfax Community College in 2000, Paul mentored with experienced design professionals for four years before opening MakeNest Interiors in 2004. Since then, his business has grown mostly through word of mouth, a testament to his commitment to offering creative ideas, quality products, and warm and friendly service. In 2017, Home & Design magazine named Paul an up and coming designer for the DC metro area, followed by his Bluemont, VA project published in the Spring 2019 issue.

An art history graduate, Triana joined MakeNest in 2016 to fulfill her wish to work in a creative environment. She is currently developing and managing projects for MakeNest while mentoring to become an interior designer. In her spare time, Triana can be found reading for her book club, perfecting her gluten-free blueberry scones, or gearing up for the next trivia night.

Groomed by the US Army and a fashion design education, Emily brings dedication and creative thinking to her work at MakeNest. She joined the team in 2013 and soon thereafter discovered her calling in marketing. Emily enjoys the pedestrian lifestyle in downtown Winchester, shopping sustainably, and taking family vacations to Canada.
